Eleni Daniilidou tries to return a shot by Japan’s Shinobu Asagoe yesterday in the fourth round of the US Open in New York. Daniilidou, ranked 33rd in the world, was upset 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-3 by 62nd-ranked Asagoe, who reached her first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the age of 28. Asagoe had been eliminated in the opening round at the Athens Olympics.
