Greek Navy gets new boat
The navy general staff said yesterday that trials of its new Fast Transport Ship, the Zakynthos, had been conducted successfully in Russia. The Zakynthos (photo) is expected to join the Greek fleet at the Salamis naval base, west of Athens, in the last week of September. Greece has bought four such vessels from Russian and Ukrainian builders. In November 2000, Reppas was diagnosed in Crete with a kidney growth. He immediately went to Athens and was operated on by urologist Ioannis Koyias at the Apollonio Hospital which is owned by the Athens Medical Center. A kidney was removed. But subsequent tests showed that the growth was still there, and the other healthy kidney missing. A second operation removed the growth.
