Where the 60 million is being spent

The country’s new tourism promotion is in full swing, boosted by a considerable increase in funds of up to 60 million euros. This is much more than in 2004, the year of the Athens Olympics, when the total budget was less than 10 million. In Germany, Greece is being advertised in Berlin (at 1,500 outdoor points), in Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Hanover, Munich, Dresden, Stuttgart and Leipzig. The campaign also covers France and Sweden (in Paris and Stockholm) as well as Finland (at 507 points), Norway (at 100 points in Oslo) and Brussels (400 posters in French and Flemish). In Copenhagen, Denmark, advertisements are posted on 221 buses; in the UK on buses and at London’s underground stations; at 500 points in Vienna, Austria; in mobile exhibits at airports in Switzerland; at 260 points in Budapest; and in Prague, Milan and Russia. In the United States, New Yorkers are being targeted with 100 metro lights in the subway plus another 400 ads on the subway and 150 on buses in Manhattan, in 125 telephone booths, on 240 panels within subway cars, 245 buses in five New York boroughs, with more ads in train stations and on the rear end of 400 buses.
