Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis is welcomed by the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Patrick Coveney, after arriving at the Vatican’s embassy in Athens yesterday to sign in the book of condolences for the death of Pope John Paul II. Opposition leader George Papandreou paid a similar visit. Greece is to be represented at the pope’s funeral tomorrow by President Karolos Papoulias, while Archbishop Christodoulos will also be present.
