WW II Battle of Crete remembered President Karolos Papoulias was among the guests who attended a re-enactment by the Greek Army and Air Force of the Nazi invasion of Crete in 1941. Some 20,000 people were killed during the battle, including many British and Australian soldiers, after a huge airborne invasion by German forces.
