A couple of dozen officially protected birds lie dead on the front steps of the Ministry of Agriculture in Athens yesterday, in a protest organized by environmental groups demanding that the ministry should take an active stance to protect birds from hunters. Some 40 birds, including swans, cormorants and other species whose hunting is illegal, were dumped on the ministry steps. «Consequently, nothing has effectively changed, and the agreement with the foundation still stands.»
