Greek midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos (l), who plays for Bolton Wanderers in England, does some stretching exercises yesterday with teammates from the national soccer team at the Aghios Cosmas training center in southern Athens, ahead of a crucial World Cup qualifier against Turkey in Istanbul on Saturday. Greece currently lies second in its qualifying group, three points behind Ukraine with five games left to play. Only first place in the group will definitely secure a place at next year’s World Cup in Germany. Greece will be without defender Traianos Dellas on Saturday, after he underwent a hernia operation.
