Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell poses next to a scoreboard at the Olympic Stadium in Athens last night after breaking the world 100-meter record during the Tsiklitiria Super Grand Prix meeting. The Jamaican clocked a time of 9.77 seconds – a 100th of a second faster than the previous record, which was held by Tim Montgomery of the US. Powell predicted before the race that he would break the record.
