Eleni Daniilidou salutes…

Greek tennis star Eleni Daniilidou salutes the crowd at Wimbledon after overcoming the reigning French Open champion and seventh seed for the tournament in London, Justine Henin-Hardenne, in an epic three-set first-round match yesterday. In what was one of the biggest upsets of the women’s game in recent years, Daniilidou, who was ranked 76 in the world, beat the Belgian player, also the world’s No.7, by 7-6, 2-6, 7-5. Daniilidou, 22, will face American Laura Granville, ranked 68 in the world, in Round 2 after overcoming Henin-Hardenne, who won the gold medal in the women’s singles at last year’s Olympic Games in Athens.
