Exhibitions at the Byzantine Museum

A visitor to the Byzantine Museum has three options apart from the permanent exhibition. Until August 31 Giorgiou Tsolozidi collection is on display; 220 artifacts from the early Christian, Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods. On show from August 29 in the old building, once the mansion belonging to the Duchess of Plaisance, is an exhibition titled «Finds from the Argolid Pit-Cave,» hosted in cooperation with the Ephorate of Paleoanthropology and Speleology. Museum director Dimitrios Konstantios told us the recent finds from the Velanidia cave are also on display. A fortnight later, the second temporary exhibition opens on the first floor titled «Visions.» «This is the visionary aspect in art, from the Byzantine period until today, and is jointly hosted with the School of Fine Arts,» said Konstantios. The Byzantine Museum has also started preparations for the «Masters» exhibition, dedicated to Fotis Zachariou and Antonis Glinos scheduled to open at Christmas. Its new website and DVD will shortly be available as well.
