After surviving an early scare, Greece managed to overpower Slovenia 6-4 (photo) in its opening match for the men’s water polo competition in the 15th Mediterranean Games held in Almeria, Spain. The Greeks added more medals to their collection yesterday, as Theodosis Pavlidis won gold in freestyle wrestling’s 74kg category. Aftantil Xanthopoulos and Valerios Koguashvili, both won bronze medals in the 96kg and 60kg categories. Ioulieta Boukouvala took silver in judo’s 57kg category, while two more bronzes came in track and field, from Alexandra Papageorgiou in the hammer and Alexandra Skafida in the pole vault.
