Professor Edward Soja

Edward Soja, one of the founders of the Los Angeles School that brought the study of geography and space into the social sciences, is professor of geography and urban planning at the University of California at Los Angeles and the London School of Economics. He has earned an international reputation for his work on urban space and development problems, chiefly in the Los Angeles area. Soja has written a number of books, of which three – «Postmodern Geographies,» «Thirdspace» and «Meta-metropolis» – have been translated into many languages. The last of these was the theme of his lecture at the conference on Geographies of the Metropolis organized by Geographies magazine at Aristotle University’s Technical School in Thessaloniki.
