Five killed in Patras crashes, baby injured
Five people were killed and two seriously injured, including a 10-month-old baby, in two car crashes near Patras in the Peloponnese on Saturday morning, police said. The first accident occurred on the Patras-to-Pirgos national road when a car veered into the opposite lane and crashed into a truck. The 29-year-old car driver and his two passengers, a man, also aged 29, and a 20-year-old woman were killed upon impact. A 10-month-old baby and a 19-year-old man, also in the car, were seriously injured and taken to the hospital. The truckdriver was unscathed. The second accident occurred on the old national road between Patras and Pirgos, when a car being driven by an 84-year-old man collided with a truck. The driver and his wife, whose details were not made public, were killed instantly. The truckdriver was not injured. None of the victims’ names were made public.
