Political satire on the rise

On the satire front, the messages are encouraging. The two weekly satirical programs have strong appeal if not commercial success. Lakis Lazopoulos, in «Al Tsantiri News» on Alpha channel, writes and interprets the scripts, improvises, makes comments on political and artistic events and talks with the technicians behind the camera. His flexibility and ease of expression are quite remarkable. Unique mimic Giorgos Mitsicostas in «Mitsi-Hotsa» on Alter channel, cultivates and improves his unique style (on a European scale) as a mimic, supported by the innovative texts written by his team. Both programs utilize the potential of new technology (digitized scenes in «Mitsi-Hotsa,» a screen within a screen in «Al Tsantiri News») and though at times elements are repeated or there are signs of fatigue, the programs provide a measure of what television can offer in terms of political and social satire in our era.
