Officers caught holding drugs
Seven members of a drugs squad were arrested in Kilkis, northern Greece, yesterday after a raid on their offices by Internal Affairs found small quantities of drugs in their desks, police said. Inspectors found heroin, hashish and narcotics pills in the drugs squad’s offices. «During an investigation, a small quantity of drugs, which had not been classified as evidence, was found in their desk drawers,» Internal Affairs said. The identity of the seven officers was not released. The raid followed a tip-off from a drug user who claimed to have been offered quantities of drugs in exchange for information about the people who supply him with illegal narcotics. The arrested officers, who denied making the offer of a deal with the drug user, are due to appear before a prosecutor today to face charges.
