Woman stomachs cocaine for flight

A 43-year-old woman was arrested in Athens on Saturday after having entered the country with her stomach full of cocaine that had been swallowed after being packed into airtight packets, police said. The woman, a Tanzanian national, is suspected of being part of an international drug operation based in South America that smuggles large quantities of cocaine into Greece. Police arrested her after she arrived at Athens International Airport on board a flight from Brazil. She had allegedly swallowed in Sao Paulo 65 small cylindrical sachets that were sealed into airtight parcels with tape. The cocaine weighed a total of 889 grams. Police are continuing investigations in an attempt to locate more people believed to be part of the narcotics racket.
