Prime Minister…

Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis looks at a poster of the late premier and PASOK leader Andreas Papandreou at Zappeion Hall on Saturday during an event marking 10 years since the socialist politician’s death. The current PASOK leader and Papandreou’s son, George, gave the main address, saying his father had put the seal on an era of struggles for democracy and changed the course of Greece’s foreign policy. Karamanlis admitted that his New Democracy party had disagreed with many of Andreas Papandreou’s policies but said that this sort of hostility belonged to the past. Saturday marked the beginning of 10 days of events at Zappeion in honor of Papandreou.
