Monday The Health Ministry is holding a blood donation drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at its main building on Aristotelous Street in central Athens. The appeal is being organized by the ministry’s Greek Association of Blood Donors, which says that blood banks run low in the summer and that it would like people to give blood before going on holiday. The Panhellenic Federation of Employees in Petroleum Products, Refineries and the Chemical Industry is holding a press conferences in Thessaloniki. Police officers, firefighters and coast guards to hold a rally from the Hilton Hotel to Syntagma Square at 5 p.m. They are demanding the salary increase which was promised before the elections. The Thessaloniki Port Authority wants to change the way that the workers, some 150 people, are paid. The workers want to maintain their current system of bonuses.
