A Greek Orthodox priest and military officers cover their heads as a CH47D Chinook helicopter takes off during a major rescue exercise on the tiny island of Gavdos, off Crete. The aim of the ‘Dolphin 2006’ mission was to simulate a response to a violent earthquake in the area. Israel, which last year sent 110 soldiers to a similar exercise, did not take part in yesterday’s activities due to events in the Middle East, a Greek army spokesman said.
