A public space used for parking
The three buildings are cut off by roads on every side. The public area surrounding them is fragmented and has been invaded by cars, motorcycles, poles and rubbish. This, said architect Dimitris Kontargyris, has happened even though the area has undergone refurbishment. «It’s a depressing situation,» he said. «Instead of being used by the public, it’s being used to park vehicles. In effect it’s not a public space. Typically, when night falls, the whole area becomes deserted. We want to change that.»
