Armed gang storms Georgia-bound bus
Four armed men stormed a bus in northern Greece yesterday and stole 7,000 euros from the driver, police said yesterday. The holdup took place on a coach traveling to Georgia with 16 passengers aboard when one of the travelers pulled out a gun and fired a shot inside the bus. The armed man then ordered the driver to stop the bus in order to allow three hooded accomplices to board the bus which they had been following in a car. The suspects then took from the driver a bag containing 7,000 euros in cash and hit him over the head with a rifle butt when he tried to resist. The gang made their get-away from the scene in the Derveni area, outside Thessaloniki, in the car which had no number plates. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects by setting up roadblocks but by late yesterday had not caught the gang.
