Two charged with perjury in Alex case

Authorities yesterday charged two people in connection with the killing last year of 11-year-old Alex Meshivili, in Veria, northern Greece, as the police investigation appears to be moving along after initial delays. Sources said the grandfather and eldest brother of two boys that have have been accused of the murder have been charged with harboring a criminal and perjury. Two of the five boys accused of taking part in the crime named their grandfather and eldest brother as being aware of the events that unfolded during the night of February 3, 2006, when Alex went missing. Earlier this month, one of the other five suspects said that a number of adults were also aware of Alex’s disappearance but had not stepped forward with the information.
