Chris Atkinson is airborne…
Australian rally driver Chris Atkinson is airborne in his Subaru yesterday during the Schimatari special stage of the Acropolis Rally, 50 kilometers north of Athens yesterday. World championship leader Marcus Gronholm led the way after the first full day of racing in which a total of five drivers recorded stage wins. The Finn took the opening stage of the day in his Ford Focus. Atkinson then stormed clear with two successive stage victories before Gronholm hit back with another win to reclaim the lead. Gronholm ended the day ahead of Norway’s Petter Solberg in his Subaru. Atkinson was third.
