A fireman looks on as water is pumped out of a house in Peraia near Thessaloniki that was flooded yesterday after heavy overnight rain. The fire service in Thessaloniki had to respond to more than 60 calls from people whose basements had flooded after a heavy bout of rain. Most problems were reported in the areas of Kalohori and Peraia. Officials said that mud flowed into at least 15 homes, destroying people’s possessions. No injuries were reported.
