The three newly elected bishops of (from left) Syros, Sidirocastro and Halkida – Dorotheos, Makarios and Chrysostomos – were presented to President Costis Stephanopoulos yesterday before assuming their new duties, in a ceremony attended by Education Minister Petros Efthymiou and Archbishop Christodoulos. Christodoulos and his estranged former confidant, Bishop Kallinikos of Piraeus, made a first gesture of reconciliation by talking to each other on the phone. Under threat of having to re-sit the exams if they did not obey, the teenagers reluctantly started trimming. Parents claimed that the headmaster personally acted as barber to two students who tried to stand their ground. But the headmaster himself has denied this.
