A giant demonic papier-mache puppet is pictured yesterday looming above a crowd of protesters in central Syntagma who called for the immediate reforestation of Mount Parnitha. The government has pledged to reforest the mountain, ravaged in a huge blaze, and to protect the area from property developers. A large blaze on the island of Samos yesterday had been partially controlled by late last night.
