Two residents…

Two residents of Tavros, in southern Athens, seek some respite from the sun yesterday when temperatures reached 29C (84F) in the capital, significantly higher than average for the time of year. Meanwhile, Thessaloniki and surrounding areas were hit by heavy rainfall. Showers are expected to spread across the country this week as temperatures drop. High humidity levels yesterday provoked problems in the operation of the Public Power Corporation’s plant in Mesogeia, leading to local power cuts lasting several hours.
