Members of Chryssi Avgi (Golden Dawn), a tiny neo-Nazi group, staged a demonstration in central Athens yesterday in support of French presidential contender Jean-Marie Le Pen. About 400 peace activists and self-proclaimed anarchists tried to stop the demonstration and scuffles ensued. Police used tear gas when the anti-fascist youths set fire to garbage containers.
