Church stance
The Holy Synod of the Church of FYROM has also taken a stance on the issue of the name. It conferred a special meeting, which made an appeal to the political leadership of FYROM, «to take seriously into account the safeguarding of Macedonian national identity and the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Macedonia.»
