Tuesday Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis to meet with Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos at 11 a.m. and Finance Minister Giorgos Alogoskoufis at noon. Municipal workers’ union (POE-OTA) stages 48-hour strike over social security reforms. Health Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos holds a press conference to present a new campaign against child obesity at 12.30 p.m. at the ministry’s Media Press Center. The campaign is being launched in cooperation with the ministries of Development, Education, Culture and Transport. The Athens Journalists’ Union holds a press conference on the social security draft law. At 1 p.m at the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE). The Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) holds a press conference on recent developments in the social security issue, at 1 p.m. Wednesday The municipal workers’ federation meets at 11 a.m. to discuss further strike action. At noon they will hold a protest march to the Labor Ministry. The General Confederation of Greek Labor (GSEE) and the Civil Servants’ Union (ADEDY) stage a three-hour work stoppage, starting at 12.15 p.m., over social security reforms and financial demands. A demonstration will be held at 1 p.m. outside Parliament. Deputy Agriculture Minister Costas Kiltidis visits Ancient Olympia to inspect anti-flood works. Employees of the Bank of Greece join the three-hour work stoppages, starting at 12.15 p.m., called by GSEE and ADEDY. Communist Party (KKE) General Secretary Aleka Papariga visits Thessaloniki. The Communist-affiliated union, PAME, holds a demonstration at 6 p.m. in Omonia Square. Friday The Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) holds a three-day convention at the Peace and Friendship Stadium. To Sunday. The Communist Party (KKE) begins a two-day meeting in Athens of European communist parties on «The new European Treaty, the Developments in European Union and the Struggle of the People’s Movement.»
