Rain today but gone tomorrow, experts say

Despite the heavy rain in many parts of the country yesterday, scientists at a conference in Athens warned that Greece is headed for higher temperatures and a lack of water in the not-too-distant future. Experts believe that Greece will start experiencing problems of drought by 2025, as rainfall is expected to drop by about 30 percent over the next few years, according to statistics revealed at a conference on climate change organized by Kathimerini and Skai yesterday. The same conference heard that the average temperature in Greece would shoot up by about six degrees by the end of this century. «Everybody has to realize that they have to change their habits,» said Nikos Chrysogelos, the head of the Mediterranean SOS network, which helped to organize the conference.
