Council meetings online
Probably the most innovative and bold initiative made by the Trikala Municipality was to open up council meetings to the city’s residents. Residents can watch a webcast of council meetings at the e-dialogos micro site, and can also help set the agenda, Proposed topics for discussion are posted online and residents vote electronically. The subjects they choose are discussed with a moderator in e-forum, at the end of which the participants can vote online. Other polls are conducted on the same website. The municipal authorities post questionnaires in order to elicit views and gauge public satisfaction with the city’s policies and actions.
