‘Lady in White’…

The authenticity of this painting, titled ‘Lady in White,’ by Greek artist Dimitris Galanis, due to go up for auction in Britain on May 20, has been disputed after Kathimerini discovered the existence of another two apparently identical works. Experts had said that Galanis’s work would fetch between 64,000 and 89,000 euros after going under the hammer at British house Bonhams. But, according to a probe by Kathimerini, an identical painting exists in London’s Tate Gallery and a third painting, again identical, was sold at Stuttgart’s Nagel Auction House in January.
