EYP shows friendlier public face

Greece’s National Intelligence Service (EYP) is taking steps to adopt a friendlier stance toward the broader public with the help of a website launched yesterday that encourages feedback from site visitors. EYP chief Ioannis Korantis said the site will aim at securing two-way communication between the agency and Greeks. «Our goal is for Greeks to understand we operate for the citizen and because of this we should explain what we are and what we do,» he told journalists. Visitors will be able to send questions to the intelligence agency and even submit criticism of the service, added Korantis. «I think that the words ‘two-way communication’ are the key elements to people understanding what a modern operation EYP is – a powerful and correct intelligence service that operates for the citizen and for the security of the nation,» he added. Interested parties can find out more about the site by logging on to www.nis.gr.
