Fire at Spata…
The dying embers of a fire at Spata, northeast of Athens, are seen yesterday. Firefighters had to battle gale force winds to put out several blazes in Attica, including one at Marathon, as well as in other parts of the country. The Marathon fire was quickly doused and police are looking for two people suspected of starting it. Fears rose when a wildfire began in Ileia, badly scarred by last summer’s blazes, but firefighters soon brought the situation under control.
