A fireman uses a high-powered hose to spray water over a pile of wrecked cars at a scrap yard in Markopoulo in southeastern Attica on Monday. A team of 24 firemen manning eight fire engines was yesterday afternoon dispatched to extinguish a large blaze that broke out in the yard at about 4 p.m. It was unclear whether the fire was the work of arsonists carrying out a revenge attack or whether it had been triggered accidentally by workers on the site.
