Patras gets ready for the Carnival season

An artist paints a figure for a street float in preparation for the annual Carnival festivities in the central port of Patras yesterday. Celebrations for the Carnival season traditionally begin 10 weeks before Easter and culminate on the weekend before Clean Monday. Patras usually holds the country’s largest Carnival parade, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over Greece.
