‘Boost the standing of our armed forces and of our country’…

Navy commandos who served aboard the Psara, the Greek frigate attached to the European Union’s anti-piracy operation off the coast of Somalia, stand to attention yesterday at the Salamina naval base during a visit by Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis. The premier congratulated the commandos for their ‘impressive’ contribution to the EU’s crackdown in the pirate-infested waters off Somalia. Their efforts had helped ‘boost the standing of our armed forces and of our country’ and promoted Greece as a ‘firm agent for peace, security and cooperation in the modern world,’ Karamanlis said.
