Deputy seeks CEO testimony

PASOK MP Costas Geitonas is taking legal action to obtain a copy of the deposition given by former CEO of Siemens Hellas Michalis Christoforakos in which he allegedly identifies the deputy as one of the politicians he bribed. In a statement issued on Saturday, Geitonas, who denies accepting any money from Christoforakos, said that he is requesting by legal means a copy of the deposition, which has been seen by Skai TV’s «New Folders» program. Christoforakos alleges that Geitonas accepted money on behalf of PASOK, while Yiannis Vartholomaios, the late director of the IKA social security fund, took cash on behalf of New Democracy. The former Siemens official, who is fighting extradition to Greece, alleges that he gave money to Greece’s two big parties up to 2007. He also claims that he began to receive death threats over the telephone in 2008. Meanwhile, a council of judges ruled that two suspects in the Siemens probe, former Siemens Hellas executive Giorgos Skarpelis and ex-OTE telecom official Ilias Georgiou, should be released on 300,000 euros bail each.
