New Democracy leadership candidate Dora Bakoyannis waves to a crowd of supporters at a basketball arena in Peristeri, western Athens, last night. She launched the most fierce attack yet on her main opponent, Antonis Samaras, accusing him of making ‘a coalition of convenience’ with former Health Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos and of putting forward ’empty patriotic slogans.’ Bakoyannis also accused unnamed media outlets and businessmen of mounting a coordinated campaign against her and in favor of Samaras, the ex-culture minister.
