Che Guevara…

An elderly protester shelters from a light drizzle yesterday while brandishing a flag depicting the late revolutionary figure Che Guevara during a protest rally in central Athens yesterday. Thousands of people employed on short-term contracts with the public sector joined the rally, which brought traffic to a standstill for a few hours. The protesters are accusing the new Socialist government of planning reforms that would result in 70,000 job losses for those working for the state on contracts. They are demanding permanent status and have threatened further action if their calls are not heeded.
