Police seek links after two migrants’ deaths

Police in Athens yesterday were seeking to determine whether there is any connection between the fatal knifing of a Pakistani man in the southern suburb of Aghios Dimitrios yesterday evening and the death of another immigrant whose body was found in a car in the same area. According to witnesses, a brawl broke out among a group of Pakistanis in a central street in Aghios Dimitrios at around 8 p.m. yesterday. During the spat, one of the Pakistanis was knifed in the stomach and died of his injuries shortly afterward. The remaining assailants fled before police arrived on the scene, witnesses said. About three hours later, officers discovered the body of another immigrant, also believed to be a Pakistani, in a parked car not far from the spot of the brawl. There were no details about the cause of death of the second victim.
