Workmen dismantled the giant Christmas tree…

Workmen dismantled the giant Christmas tree in Syntagma Square, central Athens, yesterday. The tree comprised 250 small fir trees that are due to be planted tomorrow on fire-ravaged areas of Mount Pendeli in northern Athens. The trees, along with another 1,500 that have been donated, will be planted in collaboration with Skai TV and Radio. The planting will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow in the Megaro Doukissis Plakentias area. Volunteers are welcome. To get there via public transport, take the 446 bus from Maroussi’s ISAP station, the 426 from Doukissis Plakentias station or the 451 from Halandri.
