Hooligans meet for fight in Athens suburb

One man was arrested and several cars were damaged during what appears to have been a prearranged fight between some 150 Olympiakos and Panathinaikos supporters in a parking lot in Maroussi, northern Athens, late on Saturday. Police said that about 100 Olympiakos fans left a volleyball match involving their team in the northern suburb of Kifissia after half an hour and headed on motorcycles to a municipal parking lot in Maroussi. They were met there by a group of some 50 Panathinaikos fans. The supporters traded blows and threw various missiles at each other before police intervened. Officers collected 15 empty beer bottles and numerous rocks from the scene. There were no reports of injuries but eight cars were damaged. A Panathinaikos fan was killed in March 2007 when the two teams’ supporters clashed just outside Athens.
