Woman, 62, held over entrepreneur’s murder

A 62-year-old Bulgarian businesswoman has been charged in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old Greek-American entrepreneur whose corpse was found bound and gagged in his sixth-floor apartment in the district of Neos Cosmos last December, police said yesterday after detaining the suspect. According to police the 62-year-old has admitted to sending her son and daughter, aged 28 and 30, and another two Bulgarians, aged 19 and 30, to kill Vassilis Moraitis at his Athens home. The reason, according to police, was that the businessman had allegedly delayed in providing a batch of waffle makers the 62-year-old had ordered. Police, who are seeking the other four suspects, said that they have strong leads. The woman’s daughter and the 19-year-old youth are alleged to have gone on a spending frenzy with credit cards stolen from the home of the deceased.
