Boy, 8, killed at car show north of Athens

An 8-year-old boy was killed and his father and 9-year-old brother were seriously injured when a vehicle taking part in an auto festival in Polydendri, north of Athens, veered off course and hit spectators. The man and his sons were attending the Second GP Tuning auto festival, where both production and race cars were on display and in competition, when they were hit by the car. All three were taken to the hospital but the 8-year-old succumbed to his injuries soon after arrival. The names of the man and his sons were not made public. An eyewitness told Skai radio that the three victims had been standing at a corner of the dirt circuit and that the vehicle crashed through protective barriers. The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
