Heat wave sends electricity demand soaring
A woman in Larissa, central Greece, attempts to protect herself from the sun yesterday, when the temperature in some parts of the country reached 40C. The heat wave has forced the Public Power Corporation to activate all its electricity plants and to import power from abroad, as Greeks turn to fans and air conditioning to cool off.
