Santos: I’ll do it my way
New Greece soccer manager Fernando Santos said yesterday he intends to do things his way, and not follow his predecessor’s methods. Speaking at his first press conference after signing a two-year contract with the Greek federation, the Portuguese coach, formerly of AEK, PAOK and Panathinaikos, expressed his admiration for Otto Rehhagel, who stepped down on June 23 after nine years on the Greece bench, but said he would impose his own rules on the national team. «Otto Rehhagel’s name will be forever in Greek people’s minds. Yet certainly some things will change in the team. As of today, new rules will be presented and a new style of playing. Rehhagel had his way and I have mine,» Santos stated. «We need to show some heart, show we have some organization and clear minds. I am certain we will be successful in this domain. I know the Greek mentality very well. I know that Greek players have passion and always give 200 percent.»
