Policemen in front of Parliament yesterday protested a bill due to be voted on today by MPs which harmonizes the public and private sector pension systems. The Finance Ministry made some last-minute adjustments to the bill, allowing policemen, firefighters and the coast guard to retain some of the bonus years that count toward their retirement. Civil servants who have children will also be able to retire earlier. Those with one child can retire a year earlier. Each child after that counts as two years toward their retirement criteria.
