Cross retrieved, waters blessed on Epiphany
A Thessaloniki resident, Evangelos Kargiofilis, holds up a wooden cross after being the swimmer to retrieve it during an Epiphany ceremony to bless the waters in the northern port city yesterday. Traditionally, priests throw a cross into the sea, rivers, lakes or even swimming pools so that members of the congregation can retrieve them.
